Electric Bloom[2] (formerly known as How We Became the Biggest Band in the World[1]) is an upcoming Disney Channel and Disney+ original musical comedy television series developed by Eric Friedman.[1] It is produced by It's A Laugh Productions, in association with Disney Branded Television and stars Lumi Pollack, Carmen Sanchez, Ruby Marino and Nathaniel Buescher.[1] It is scheduled to begin airing on Disney Channel in 2025.

Premise[]

“Electric Bloom” follows three members of a mega-famous pop group of the same name, as they look back and tell the story of their band and friendship, starting with the day they all met in middle school. The girls go on a journey to becoming the biggest band in the world and the best friends in the universe.[1]

Production[]

Development for the pilot began in February 2024 with Eric Friedman, Alex Fox and Rachel Lewis writing the draft.[3] In April 2024, Babel Film Workshop released a casting call for a Disney Branded Television pilot titled “How We Became the Biggest Band in the World.”[4] On November 1, 2024, it was announced that Disney Branded Television had given a series greenlight How We Became the Biggest Band in the World (working title), which isa music-driven, live-action comedy, which is slated to premiere in 2025 on Disney Channel and Disney+. The series order is part of Ayo Davis’, president, Disney Branded Television’s, strategy of building a new Disney Channel and Disney+ lineup of multi-cam sitcoms for kid audiences. The new slate began rolling out with sequel series Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, executive produced by Selena Gomez. Eric Friedman serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside writers and executive producers Alex Fox and Rachel Lewis. Iconic songwriter Diane Warren and Bahareh Batmang are executive producers, and Warren wrote the songs in the pilot. Jody Hahn directed and executive-produced the pilot.[1][5] In October 2024, Disney Enterprises, Inc. trademarked Electric Bloom.[2]

Filming[]

Filming for the pilot episode is began on June 26, 2024, and concluded a month later.[6][7] Jim Jones acts as production designer.[8] He previously worked on other Disney Channel shows, including Dog With a Blog, the cancelled Fairest of the Mall, Jessie, Bunk'd, Stuck in the Middle, Just Roll With It, Coop and Cami Ask the World and Pretty Freekin' Scary.[9]

Casting[]

In November 2024, Lumi Pollack, Carmen Sanchez, Ruby Marino and Nathaniel Buescher joined the main cast.[1]

Release[]

The first season of Electric Bloom is scheduled to air on Disney Channel in 2025.[1] It will also stream on Disney+.[1]
